An indicator that a place is good is when you can see the fresh fish on display, and that’s one of the main reasons Bear Flag won me over. On top of that, they have a marketplace where you can buy pre-made sushi or fish to cook later at home.
I am stunned by the fact that by searching “The Best Poke in Orange County” on Google, only one blog so far mentions Kawamata. Opening a new restaurant, especially one as specialized as a poke shop, has had its challenges. Most of the House of Poke bowls range in price from $15 to $20. “I think that it’s just amazing that we’re able to offer it at the price we can,” Slaugh said.

Bear Flag is the best poke place in the Newport Beach area. It isn’t a hole-in-the-wall type of place like Kawamata, but it is the second best option for poke in Orange County. The salmon was pure freshness and the sauce was deliciously tangy. The onions had the perfect crispiness and did not overpower the rest of the ingredients.

The Gamble House will open the doors to its servants' hall and rooms for the first time in its history. When thinking about New Jersey, the word “Countryside” doesn’t often come to mind. We’re the most densely populated state in the country – and we like it that way! But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some wonderful little spots to enjoy nature, and one rural restaurant in New Jersey offers the best of both worlds. Gronsky’s Milk House, an old-school diner and ice cream parlor in High Bridge, offers classic American food with some unique twists – and decorations.
The bathroom features open wood shelving above the toilet, white black hardware and faucets contrast the square white tiles. The roof of the house has been turned into a rooftop deck with a built-in outdoor kitchen with bbq, a lounge area and an dining area. Wood cabinets have been paired with custom white marble countertops to tie in with the rest of the wood accents in the open plan room and the white walls. Next to the shelving is a wood bench that becomes seating for the dining table. The floor throughout the main level of the home is concrete.
